Careers > Senior Worker - Therapeutic Home Based Care

Full Time Ongoing Subject to Funding

This position is based in Mildura and has responsibilities across the Northern Mallee.

The Circle Program has been established to demonstrate a different approach to caring for children who are coming into care for the first time or who have had multiple placement breakdowns.

In the Mallee region, Mallee Family Care has six placement targets.

The essential work of the therapeutic care approach is to construct a thorough understanding of the child in placement.  The design of the care approach needs to radiate outwards from this understanding of the child as multi-layered, systemic, logical and tailored response to the underlying issues of the child’s presentation.  The major elements of the Circle Program include the provision of an enriched, therapeutically intentional environment throughout all interactions.  This will be achieved by an inclusive care team approach, the provision of therapeutic support and training to carers and network members and the engagement of a volunteer support network for the child and significant others.

The objectives of the position are to:

  • To undertake case management and care co-ordination for children placed with the Circle Program.
  • To observe and implement the principles of Best Interests of the child as legislated in the Children, Youth and Families Act, 2005.
  • To support therapeutic carers with children in a Circle Program placement.
  • To participate as a member of each child’s care team to ensure an integrated approach to therapeutic practice.

The successful applicant will be required to hold an accredited qualification relevant to the position at Degree level or above.
