Our Privacy Statement to our Supporters

What Personal information do we collect?
We only collect personal information that is necessary to carry out our work.

Personal information held by us may include your name, address, any previous addresses, telephone or mobile phone number, e-mail address, donation details, and a supporter number. It is your choice whether you choose to provide all or some of this personal information – your choice may affect the way in which we communicate with you.

How do we collect Personal Information?
Directly from you, when you provide us with information by phone, mail or e-mail.

From third parties such as friends who have referred you to us.

From publicly available sources such as the telephone directory.

How do we use your Personal Information?
Your personal information may be used to:
• To thank you for your support
• To keep you informed of our work
• To inform you of our fundraising appeals
• To provide you with our supporter services

Disclosure of Personal Information
In using your personal information for the above purposes, we may need to disclose it to outside organisations such as:
• Our financial institutions
• Our contracted service providers such as our telemarketing agency

We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our website.

Opting Out - it's your choice
From time to time, we may allow other like minded charitable organisations to contact you with information that may be of interest to you. In return, these organisations allow us to contact their supporters so that we can reach more generous people like you.

Returns & Refunds
Any request for refund of contributions already donated to Mallee Family Care by a sponsor/donor will be considered and determined on a case by case basis. Refunds will be made by cheque only.

When a request for a refund is received, an assessment of the reason given for the refund request is undertaken.

The following reasons will usually be considered favourably:
  • an error has been made by Mallee Family Care;
  • a sponsor/donor decides within the first week of providing contributions that they have changed their mind and the funds have not already been utilised for fundraising activities;
  • a sponsor/donor banking details are fraudulently obtained and used;
  • a sponsor’s/donor’s contributions are paid in advance.

The following reasons will not usually be grounds for a refund to be given:
  • the financial circumstances of the sponsor/donor;
  • the sponsor/donor denies or disputes having made a decision with Mallee Family Care or one of its contracted marketing agencies to provide financial contributions; or
  • disagreement by the sponsor/donor with the nature of the programs provided by Mallee Family Care.

If it is agreed that a refund is to be made, the sponsor/donor will be sent a cheque within five working days of the decision.
